Only played it once but will return. Well Done Seve! We were paired with two delightful Dubliners who were regulars and kindly advised us most of the way around this splendid and spectacular course. As a senior golfer I think a buggy is essential as it is quite hilly, it was like playing Las Ramblas (Villamartin area) for the first time. There was a great sense of expectation and wonderment as to how they got a course into these contours. But they did and what a damn good job they did. Get away from the assembly line systems nearer the coast (no names ???) and 'Run for the Hills'. A memorable Golf course and dare I suggest a must for any visit to this area. You will have a great day out and the drive there is also enjoyable. Played Alhaurin twice recently - absolutely wonderful design, stunning views, slick sloping greens, narrow fairways if any !! . Extremely tight - believe it or not, a lot easier off the back white tees as you play to the widest part of the fairways. Very nice practice course - excellent level of Greenkeeping - lots of slope. Hit the green or get a new ball. I enjoyed playing here a lot. You can tell this course was designed by SEVE !!!! This is not a course for the wayward golfer. Every hole has an amazing view, a tight spot, a fast green and the overall condition was outstanding. The location of the course (on the side of a mountain) is spectacular. The value for money offered is excellent. A buggy is a must (along with water, sun lotion, golf balls - lots off, and a camera for those spectacular views) An excellent course. |
Played this course Jan 2001. Excellent condition. Tough in parts and probably easier once you've played it before. Greens were frighteningly quick and some pin positions extremely tough. Good value for the condition of the course including buggy. Some of the holes are very picturesque especially the 5th. The 3rd was being rebuilt so 2 short par 3's replace 3 and 4 but this didn't detract from what was a testing round of golf. Overall very enjoyable and highly likely to become a very popular course in time. Personally I rated this course over La Cala (North) in both value and condition. I played this course in Summer 2000 and the greens are the easily the most memorable aspect of a superb course. They are as quick as glass and just as true. As with previous reviewers I would concur that a true tee shot and a buggy are both a must in presenting a creditable scorecard. It is also exceptional value during the summer months - £16 for 18 holes including a buggy! - but play as early as you can. If you are in the area, you have to play it before it's fame spreads and it becomes as busy as Mijas. Having just played Alhaurin for the first time I must congratulate the Greens staff and the Course Marshall on what is a superb course. I would advise that unless you are a mountain goat that you always use a buggy and be prepared for some of the most spectacular views you will ever see on a golf course Excellent Course and superb level of Greenkeeping! Extremely fast greens, lots of slope and spectacular views making this course one of my favourites. |

| A unique combination of three golf courses along with equestrian and tennis clubs. A par 72 18 hole course, a 9 hole par 3 course and an 18 hole junior course - where adults must be accompanied by a child! The 18 hole course set 320m above sea level has majestic views of the mountains to the north and the Mediterranean to the south. The more challenging holes are characterised by tight lush green fairways, water features and sloping greens. A challenge for low handicappers, the 18 hole course is not well suited to those with 26+ handicaps. |

We've played Alhaurin for the last 2 years in February when the fees are c.4500 ptas which is stunning value. The golf course is in excellent condition and a real challenge with stunning views. The clubhouse was still incomplete this year but does not detract from the enjoyment. A 'must play' before the resort is finished and the prices jump. Look out for the 6th hole! The par 3 course is great fun as well Having just returned to golf after a fourteen year break, myself and a colleague went out to Malaga for some golf and no rain. We stumbled across this course after getting lost while trying to find Mijas. The score card said the maximum handicap was 28!!, and a lot of 28 handicappers would struggle. I haven't yet put in for my handicap, but I shot an 86 and was very happy, but lost three balls in the process. This course is technically demanding and requires a high level of accuracy. I enjoyed my golf there, even as it was raining, and we had to walk round. The backdrop is stunning and I wish I had my camera there to take photos. I will be going back next year. |
We are a group of 8 who have now played Alhaurin twice, and will be going back this year as well. The first time we played this course we lost 37 balls between us (are handicaps range from 14 to 25) and swore we would never return, but on returning home we all decided that it wouldn`t beat us so we returned and all played the course a lot better. I personally think it rates as highly as La Cala and Torrequebrada and it's great value for money. Recommend a buggy and 4000 ptas for a bag of balls on the 5th tee. We were somewhat disappointed in the design, expecting something from Seve Ballesteros a little more indicative of the many tournament championship designs he has played. This course is extremely target oriented, and on many tees one must be able to work the ball either way to avoid serious penalties. Some of the holes, unless one has previous course knowledge, are unfair and gimmicky. The backdrop on the other hand is stunning and that alone might get me back to this place. |

| Living on the peaks of the Costa del Sol, that's what Alhaurin Golf allows you to do. Located in the Mijas Mountains, close to the village of Mijas and yet only 30 minutes from Malaga international airport, it's surrounded by open areas in a unique natural environment. Designed by 'Seve' this course is set in the mountains and wraps itself around the undulating terrain. The fourth, a par 4, has 2 bunkers on the right and 3 trees in the middle of the fairway, Seve has a sense of humour. We would recommend the use of a golf buggy. Soft spikes only. |
